On Friday, May 1, the NASA-sponsored programs in the Department of Physical, Environmental, and Computer Sciences (PECS), in collaboration with the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), held its Annual Space Day Celebration at Medgar Evers College. The theme for Space Day 2009 was "Human Space Flight: Past, Present and Future".
I woke up feeling strange and funny like I had never felt before. It was Thursday but it looked like a never before seen day. I felt light and empty and yet too heavy to think or to even carry myself. As usual, I got out of bed, prayed, got myself ready for the new day, said good-bye to mom as I headed out to work and later school would follow.
The Men of Medgar, an emerging club, recently presented a roundtable discussion on the new meaning of blackness and manhood in the age of Obama. Entitled "Solid As Barack: the Meaning of Obama for Black Men", the meeting successfully brought out a culturally diverse group of young black men and women, students and faculty.
On a brisk Sunday morning, many attended the rally protesting against the controversial newspaper cartoon in the February 18th issue of the New York Post. Medgar Evers College is one of the first institutions to outwardly display acts of retaliation against the racial innuendo.
On February 11, 2009, Medgar Evers College held a one day summit partnering with the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and Casey Family Programs to kick off CDF's national Cradle to Prison Pipeline Campaign. Connecting the Neighborhood Dots: Promoting Solutions to Dismantle the Pipeline to Prison summit brought together child care service professionals within the fields of elementary, secondary and higher education, mental health and wellness, juvenile justice, public policy, as well as elected officials, community and spiritual leaders and the all too forgotten children themselves.
Chic, sensuous ambiance and fabulous food are all cliché adjectives that come to mind when conveying the feeling of restaurant reviews. However, at One Greene Restaurant and Lounge, solitude, hospitality and ease are the adjectives that permeate this woodsy quiet place.

After winning the position of Vice Presidency uncontested last year, Ms Marie Antoinette was ready and able to serve the students in that capacity. However, when Ms Jennifer Levia failed to meet the GPA requirements of the as prescribed by the CUNY by-laws and SGA constitution; Ms Antoinette assumed the position as required by the SGA Constitution.
